What We Know About the Auto Reform

A bill has been passed by the Michigan Legislature to reform the current no fault insurance law.  The changes to the law take effect July 1, 2020.

There are a lot of changes being discussed, however, we received some GREAT NEWS. The Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association (MCCA) fee will be reduced from $220 per vehicle to $100 per vehicle for those who choose to keep the unlimited medical coverage currently provided. This is a savings of $120 per vehicle (a 55% savings on the MCCA fee)!

There will be other options available for medical coverage, including opting out of purchasing any medical coverage. Those choices will likely have an impact on the MCCA fee as well. Again, it is important to note that this does not go into effect until July 1, 2020.

A lot of things could change between now and July, but Insurance One will do our very best to keep you informed of any changes or updates and help you be prepared for the July 2020 deadline.  If you have ANY questions or concerns please feel free to contact me or your Insurance One Sales Rep at any time.
