Not Ready to Take the Plunge? Try the Frozen 5K This Year!
Consider yourself a cold weather enthusiast but a dunk into frigid waters isn’t for you? How about a Frozen 5K Charity Walk in support of SOMI?
Our SOMI supporters came out BIG for the Frozen 5K Walk/Runs put on by our offices in 2021 and we are bringing it back for 2022. The plan is to have each Frozen 5K Walk end at or near each Plunge location so that all of our walkers can support our Plungers.
For the truly Cold Weather Fearless, start the morning with the Frozen 5K followed by the Polar Plunge! If walking with a group of folks isn’t your thing, feel free to chart your own route anytime between Feb. 1st and March 5th and walk away! All you need to do to participate is set-up a fundraising page that serves as your registration for the walk and reach out to friends, family, colleagues and neighbors to show the cold weather love for Special Olympics Michigan. Additional details regarding the various group gatherings for our Frozen 5K Charity Walks will be presented as they become available.
Each day the athletes of Special Olympics Michigan (SOMI) push themselves outside of their comfort zone, breaking down barriers in an effort to create a unified world. We choose to join them as they pave the way in the Inclusion Revolution by taking the Polar Plunge and lacing up for the Frozen 5K Charity Walk! The Polar Plunge is the single largest fundraiser for Special Olympics Michigan. All funds raised by Plungers help SOMI provide year-round training and services to thousands of athletes with intellectual disabilities across the state.
